Make your own Canarian sauce

Create your own Canarian sauce: Year 1 primary school pupils took part in the ‘Create your own Canarian sauce’ activity, organised by the Lanzarote Island Council as part of the ‘Experimenta’ project

19 oct. 2026

🧄🌶️During the workshop, the schoolchildren discovered the origins of Canarian mojo sauce, learnt about its ingredients and learnt how to make it using traditional utensils, such as a mortar. It was an experience in which they enjoyed learning and during which each pupil was able to make their own sauce and take it home.

This activity ties in with the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP), which promotes learning through inquiry, exploration and direct experience. The pupils developed their curiosity, independence and thinking skills whilst discovering and appreciating our traditions.

👌During the day, we were also visited by Ascensión Toledo, the Education Councillor for the Lanzarote Island Council, who shared some moments of this enriching experience with the pupils.

A fun and meaningful way to learn, experience and keep our traditions alive!
