On 13th September, our beloved Headmistress Delfina Rodríguez Cavero, who, after thirty-eight years of dedication and devotion at Arenas International School, began the new path of her retirement. Students, teachers, non-teaching staff and directors gathered to thank her for the love and passion she has put into each of her actions during almost four decades of work, in which she has been a teacher, head of studies, friend and, for the last eighteen years, headmistress.

Delfina's last day at work was full of joy and emotion. The students' performances (music, dance and poetry); the souvenirs and gifts; the touching words of the new Pedagogical Director, José Paz; the General Director, Alberto Rodríguez; and the Managing Director, Jaime Rodríguez... were moments that touched the heart of Delfina, who could feel the deep consideration, affection and respect of all those present.
José Paz expressed his gratitude for every moment and every learning experience with Delfina, and praised her efforts and achievements: ‘We have been able to turn a small tourist town, located on a small island in the Atlantic, into an educational benchmark for the Canary Islands and, why not say it, for the whole of Spain. Delfina has shown me, at all times, to be a person of integrity, balanced, an excellent communicator, reflective, supportive, informed and educated, open-minded and inquisitive’.
Alberto Rodríguez shared his gratitude, extolling Delfina's virtues and excellence, and highlighting her extraordinary role during almost forty years of love for her profession and the College: ‘She has always been a key part of our organisation, involved in every step we have taken. I am sure we will always be able to count on her. Our future successes will also be hers. Her mark on our community is immense and will last forever.
For Jaime Rodríguez, ‘Delfina has been a key player in the development and growth of our College. Throughout her tenure, we have seen how our school has flourished in multiple aspects, from academic excellence to the strengthening of our community values,’ he said, adding: ’In this act we cannot express all that Delfina has done for the school, nor praise her figure with all that she has done. We can only say THANK YOU and wish her the best of luck in her new journey’.
Enjoy your retirement, we will miss you!
