Colegio Arenas Internacional is the only school in Lanzarote that is part of the European Blue Schools Network, an initiative that promotes ocean education and commitment to marine conservation. The school has been part of this network since 2024, obtaining the Aquamarine Blue School distinction, and in 2025 it achieved the Ultramarine Blue School category, the highest recognition within the program.

yesIn this context, on October 17, on the occasion of World Nature Protection Day, 11th grade students, accompanied by several of their teachers, carried out a beach cleanup activity in Costa Teguise, covering the coastline from Las Cucharas to Los Ancones. During the day, they removed plastic and other solid waste, contributing to the conservation of the coastal environment and promoting environmental awareness.

enlightenedThe students rated the experience very positively:
Emily J. Armesto: “I found the beach clean-up trip on Friday the 17th fun and useful, as it promotes contributing to the cleanliness of the environment and also helps to raise awareness of the consequences of the accumulation of waste caused by humans.”
Rodrigo de Sande: “We went to different beaches collecting trash that humans had brought there. I think it's a very important activity, as it's crucial to preserve our natural environment, especially the beaches around us, which are the most beautiful thing we can find on this island.”
Lianhan Jian: “With this activity, we are doing our bit to clean up our coastline.”
Miguel Rodríguez Gómez: “We should do more activities like this, as we are aware that caring for the environment is everyone's responsibility.”

During the 2025 academic year, the center will continue to develop projects focused on marine conservation, knowledge of ocean species, and raising awareness of the environmental challenges affecting marine ecosystems.

Through these actions, the center reaffirms its commitment to education geared toward sustainability, environmental responsibility, and protection of the marine environment.
