Last night, Arenas International School brought its 40th-anniversary celebrations to a fitting close with a moving Alumni Reunion, on an evening filled with memories, reunions and emotion.

The celebration began with a tour of the school’s facilities, led by teaching staff, which allowed attendees to relive their school days and share anecdotes with former classmates and teachers.
Many of them were unaware of the changes and new additions the school has undergone in recent years, particularly the facilities at the Aqua & Sports Centre Lanzarote, which sparked surprise and interest during the tour. The tour included iconic spaces such as the laboratories, the Aula del Mar, the library, Contonearte, the classrooms, the canteen and the sports facilities.

Following this first part, the official ceremony took place, attended by Delfina Rodríguez, former headteacher of Arenas Internacional School; José Paz, the school’s current headteacher; and Jaime Rodríguez, managing director of Arenas, Arenas Atlántico and Arenas Internacional Schools.

During her speech, Delfina Rodríguez recalled the school’s origins, the various cohorts of pupils who have passed through its classrooms, and the work carried out by the teaching and non-teaching staff who have supported generations of pupils over the past four decades. For his part, José Paz reviewed the school’s development, highlighting its growth in terms of both infrastructure and its educational programme, as well as its firm commitment to languages and the prestigious International Baccalaureate programmes. Jaime Rodríguez brought the event to a close by congratulating and thanking all those present for attending, inviting them to relive unforgettable moments and enjoy an evening specially designed to celebrate the shared history of the educational community.

The evening continued with a live performance by the group Vocal3, who provided the soundtrack to a celebration brimming with emotions and memories. Following the commemorative moment marking the 40th anniversary, the party continued with a lively DJ set that went on until one in the morning.

Throughout the evening, guests had the opportunity to leave messages, dedications and mementos in a guest book prepared especially for the occasion, whilst the area set aside for photographs became one of the busiest meeting points at the event.

Hugs, smiles and conversations revisiting stories shared years ago took centre stage on a magical evening that brought to the surface emotions and memories of a pivotal period in the lives of many of those present. With this gathering, Colegio Arenas Internacional brought to a close the programme of events organised to mark its 40th anniversary, rounding off a year of celebrations that have served to recognise the history, values and people who have helped to shape the school’s educational mission since its foundation.
