The results obtained throughout all year groups are highly satisfactory and our students have achieved important awards both here on the island and further afield. However, we are most proud of having achieved official certification as an IB school, in the academic year 2016-2017, for all three of the IB programmes: PYP, MYP and Diploma. Currently, there are only 13 schools in Spain that are certified to teach all three programmes.
As a result of their hard work and determination, our students have been the recipients of important local, regional and national awards. Most notably, they won 3rd prize in the national competition PlayEnergy Endesa; a student from Primary Year 6 was a finalist, both in the Canary Islands and at national level, in the competition “¿Qué es un Rey para ti?”; three students from Primary Years 2, 5 and 6 were awarded one first prize and two second prizes in the Toyota drawing competition; first prize was awarded in Preschool Education for their participation in the Jovi-Unicef competition in the Canary Islands and first prize was awarded to Colegio Arenas Internacional for our entry in the Binter Competition titled “Día de Canarias”.
Furthermore, students in year six of Primary and year 4 of Secondary Education sat the international ISA exams and once again obtained excellent results in reading comprehension and mathematics. These exams are taken in English and are designed to evaluate students from international schools, based on the standards set out by the OECD for International Student Assessment and evaluated by the International Schools Assessment.
In the academic year 2016-17, 100% of our Baccalaureate students who sat the EBAU exams passed (in the exams in June and July) and the average result was 8.1. In the exams for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, our students’ results were above the world average for Mathematics, History, Physics and Biology.
During the school year, 198 students have taken external language assessments in English, German and Mandarin Chinese. The results for the younger Primary students and for the external exams taken by older Primary , Secondary and Baccalaureate students have been very positive:
